First EPYC – Network meeting with local partners in Berlin
On December 15 th 2016 a small but exquisite group of 11 interested and dedicated stakeholders came together to share their expertise about Young Carers and discuss experiences, ideas and visions on how to promote awareness in that field. The participants came from different institutions and professions, such as counseling for children of cancer patients, care counseling, an institution for siblings of ill children, hospital management, intercultural care and a teacher from a nursing academy.
We also contacted potential partners from schools and social work institutions who unfortunately weren’t able to attend this time but want to be on board in the next meeting.
After a short input about Young Carers, the EPYC project and the presentation of the brand new project flyer by the project manager, the participants shared their experiences about their work with Young Carers which brought an interesting variety of perspectives and reflected different needs for action.
The joint collection of ideas on the EPYC projects planned outputs (awareness raising resources, tool box and guidelines for supporting Young Carers) was also very effective and brought excellent ideas and inspiration.
We thank all the participants for their dedicated and active participation and are very happy to have closed the year 2016 with such a productive and inspiring network meeting. We are already looking forward to the meeting!
